Gretchen Reinheimer Design
About Gretchen
Gretchen is living a dream. Her first job at 17 was selling fabrics for interiors. It was her designer customers who told her about The Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC where she graduated with an Associates degree in Interior Design and a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. Through an internship at FIT she assisted a consortium of artists called Design New York in Frankfurt at the Ambiente Trade Show. She designed the booth for them and assisted them in selling their products at the show. She was the recipient of the Hoechst Celanese Marketing Contest Award in 1991 and was their honored guest at The Heimtextil trade show in Frankfurt, Germany with her two team mates. Her first professional project was to measure and draft up the existing conditions of The 21 Club, NYC for the massive redesign it underwent in the late 80s.

Gretchen Reinheimer Design completed many projects since then from the design and construction of a rustic country house with 'twig work' railings in The Berkshires of Massachusetts whose inspired design stems from the project she was instrumental in completing in the Adirondacks with Elizabeth Stewart (see Adirondack Style, by Ann O'Leary) to the expansion of the 10 thousand square foot office of Sigma Group, a young hip ad agency of 60 employees in Oradell, NJ, to the Iluminada Hair Studio in Englewood NJ, where she designed the 'Cuban Baroque' arches and the curvaceous mirror frames at each station in the salon and managed the entire assembly. A visit she made to Cuba inspired many of the details in the salon and the name Iluminada motivated her to use 'Pure Gold' 3-Form material for the countertops.

Her keen organization skills have evolved into a passion for managing the chaos of construction projects. She believes there is something wonderful about the challenge to organize the pandemonium and have FUN in the process. That's the key. To make it fun for everybody. Gretchen loves what she does and is thankful for the work.
